Grandparent/Koroua/Kuia Reading Week and Taste of Hāngi

The food quickly being placed into the wire baskets.

The wet sheets being placed over top of the food trays.

The wet sacks about to be placed on top.

The soil is carefully put on top of the sacks. It is pressed down and any escaping steam is quickly covered with soil.

Four Hours later...

The food being lifted from the Hangi.

The hot volcanic rocks and wire basket.

Enough food to feed over 800 people!

Alexia with her Nana.

Peeling the vegetables for the Hāngi.

Our buddies from Totara Hub helping us prepare the vegetables.

Thank you Hayley Hamilton!

Hooray!  Hayley Hamilton sent us a parcel from Raglan.  It's very fragile.  It is shiny and green and blue and it is shaped as a love heart.  Room 1 are very lucky to get it.  Thank you Hayley Hamilton.

Yay!  Yesterday a big brown parcel came from Raglan.  I was excited....what was in the parcel?  When it came out I was amazed at what I saw.  My eyes grew big.  I saw blue and green and on the top was a big beautiful house.   Hayley made it out of special clay.
Thank you Hayley!
