Superhero Book Character Day

Wow what a fun day we had dressed up as Superheros! Snow White, The Cat in the Hat, Ninja Turtles, Spider-Men and more. We looked great!

Amazing Butterflies

Look at our beautiful symmetrical butterflies. We made them symmetrical by folding them in half and making each side look the same. So clever! Thanks Mrs Meuller for making these with us!

St. Patrick's Day in Room 1

We were so excited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day today with Jenna.  Jenna is visiting from Ireland for 6 months.  We learned about leprechauns, pots of gold, shamrocks, the Irish flag, speaking Gaelic and much more!  We sung a leprechaun song (see below), did lots of St. Patrick's Day art and even looked for gold to fill our 'pots of gold.'  Jenna brought us in some shamrock chocolates that she had made with her Mommy.

Jenna told us some special things about her life in Ireland.  We loved hearing about the leprechaun that hides in the floxglove plant by her front door.  Every morning when she walks past she says something nice about the leprechaun's  shoes, like "Oooo I like your shoes!"  This makes the leprechaun happy so he won't play tricks on her!"

Saying Hello and Goodbye In Gaelic

Super Swimming

We have been swimming in our school pool for 6 weeks and boy does it show!  We are so clever and have all become much more confident in the water.  For the last few weeks we have been practising blowing bubbles (and not holding our nose), holding the flutter boards correctly with straight arms and kicking with long straight legs and also floating on our backs.

Pieces Basic

Today we learned how to use an app on our iPads called 'Pieces Basic'.  We will be able to use this app in lots of different ways to show our learning.

Marvellous Maths!

We are learning all about the numbers 0-20.  We are learning to count forwards and backwards, order numbers, say the number before, after and between and write numerals 0-20.  

Amazing Reading!

One of our task board activities at reading time is called 'Read to self'.  This is when we find a quiet place to sit with our browsing box and read quietly. This is great way to practice and enjoy our reading. Today we were all superstars at reading quietly to ourselves.  Well Done Room 1!

Discovery Time

We were all so excited to have Discovery on Friday.  There was so much to choose from in our other Hub classes and outside in the Quad.
 In Room 1 we had a few sheets and the furniture and we turned it into an amazing hut. It was great to see everyone problem solving and working together!
